Commercial Fishermen of America
IFR is the founder of the Commercial Fishermen of America, a nationwide
organization to promote the common interest of the fishing industry,
provide a forum to foster professional collaboration among fishermen,
and educate Americans about the profession of commercial fishing.
Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Associations
IFR is the non-profit arm of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's
Associations. PCFFA is a trade organization that represents Califonia
commercial fishermen. For 30 years, PCFFA has been at the forefront
of efforts to conserve and recover fish populations, to protect
and restore fish habitats and ecosystems, to foster individual
and family-owned fishing businesses, to preserve fishing communities,
and to assure consumers access to healthy, locally-harvested seafood.
SalmonAid is a 501(c)(3) festival organized by the largest
ever coalition of West Coast salmon advocates (including commercial,
recreational and tribal fishermen, conservation organizations,
chefs, restaurants, scientists, and many others). SalmonAid works
to raise awareness of the plight of west coast salmon populations,
the rivers and streams they spawn in, and the many coastal and
inland communities that rely on salmon for their livelihoods and

The Faces of California Fishing is a new initiative to
promote the real stories and people behind California's fishing
communities. Find information on California fishermen, recipes,
where and how to buy locally caught seafood, and more.
Save Our Wild Salmon
IFR is a member group and has a seat on the board of Save Our
Wild Salmon. SOS is a nationwide coalition of conservation organizations,
commercial and sport fishing associations, businesses, river groups,
and taxpayer advocates - all joined in a commitment to restore
Pacific Northwest wild salmon and the communities that depend
Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission
IFR serves as an advisor to the Pacific States Marine Fisheries
Commission (PSMFC), which is one of three interstate commissions
dedicated to resolving fishery issues.
California Salmon Council
The California Salmon Council, in cooperation with industry
and government, actively pursues efforts to develop, maintain
and expand domestic and international markets at profitable levels,
for California King Salmon and salmon products.
Americorps Watershed Stewards Program
Each year, IFR mentors two Americorps Watershed Stewards Program
volunteers. Americorps personnel are assigned to the IFR office
to learn fishery/conservation policy.
The Marine Fish Conservation Network
IFR is a member of the Marine Fish Conservation Network, a nationwide
coalition of like-minded organizations who study the ongoing effects
of the nation's primary fishery statute, The Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management Act.
The World Forum of Fish Harvesters and Fishworkers
Through the PCFFA, IFR also participates in the World Forum of Fish Harvesters and Fishworkers, an organization made up of artisinal and small boat fishing men and women worldwide committed to sustainable fishing practices and the protection of fishing communities.
University of California Bodega Marine Laboratory
Working with scientists from the University of California, IFR
helped sponsor research and development for genetic satellite
markers that help track populations of Winter-Run Chinook.
San Francisco Ocean Film Festival
The San Francisco Ocean Film Festival celebrates the sea with
inspirational films that increase our appreciation of the oceans
that surround us.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
IFR works closely with the aquarium on their Seafood Watch Program
and serves as an advisor for this effort.
Monterey Fish Market
Monterey Fish Market, located at Pier 33 in San Francisco, works
to bring high quality seafood and service to the San Francisco
community while working with the local fishing community.
Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association
IFR serves on the Board of the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association
which helps protect the resources managed by the Gulf of the Farallones
National Marine Sanctuary through collaborative education, interpretation,
outreach, and research.
